The Pairing of McIlroy and Lowry: A Closer Look at Their Zurich Classic Debut

McIlroy and Lowry to join forces at Zurich Classic of New Orleans

Rory McIlroy is set to make his debut at the Zurich Classic, which will take place from April 25-28 at TPC Louisiana. He will be teaming up with fellow European Ryder Cup teammate Shane Lowry for the event. This will be McIlroy’s first appearance at the Zurich Classic, which switched to a two-man team format in 2017.

The Zurich Classic is scheduled to take place just a week after the RBC Heritage, meaning that McIlroy could be playing in his fourth consecutive tournament. This includes the Valero Texas Open, the Masters, and the event at Harbour Town. In fact, McIlroy has already played seven times in 2024, including two starts on the DP World Tour, which is two more worldwide starts than he had at this point last year.

Lowry has participated in the Zurich Classic three times, with his most recent appearance in 2022 alongside Ian Poulter where they finished 13th. On the other hand, Lowry has also played seven times this year, including a recent appearance at the Porsche Singapore Classic on the DP World Tour where he tied for 29th. Both players are excited to be playing together and look forward to competing in this prestigious event.
