The Chatham Middle School Science & Technology Fair Showcases Innovative Research by Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Graders

Local Announcements: Winners of the 2024 Science and Technology Fair in CMS

The 2024 Chatham Middle School Science & Technology Fair was held recently in the school gym, featuring entries from students in grades six through eight. Winners were chosen from each grade level. Miles Schuster, a sixth-grade student, investigated the impact of outside temperature on the efficiency of solar panels. Jack Galvin, a seventh-grade student, studied which fruit or vegetable contained the most energy. Meanwhile, an eighth-grade team consisting of Lucy Tassinari and Logan Van Wie examined the effectiveness of various heat protectants.

The students participating in the fair developed a hypothesis or technical problem and used either the Scientific Method or Problem Solving Method to test their theories or find solutions. The judging was done by Chatham’s high school and middle school science and technology faculty during class hours, with classes visiting to view the projects. The fair was open to the public in the evening, where the winners were announced at the end of the event.

The winners of the fair included Miles Schuster for his research on solar panels, Jack Galvin for his study on fruits and vegetables, and Lucy Tassinari and Logan Van Wie for their work on heat protectants. Congratulations to all students who participated in this exciting event!
