Universal Studios in Discussions with Scarlett Johansson for Role in Gareth Edwards’ ‘Jurassic World’ Film

Scarlett Johansson, who has been nominated for two Oscars, is currently in talks to join the Gareth Edwards-directed reboot of Jurassic Park at Universal. After her successful run as Black Widow in the Marvel movies, Johansson is now looking to be a part of another major movie franchise.

Jurassic World is being fast-tracked by Universal with a scheduled release date of July 2, 2025. David Koepp is penning the latest iteration of the film, which will be a fresh take on the Jurassic era. The new movie will not feature cast members from previous Jurassic World movies.

Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment and Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing the project. The Jurassic Park franchise, which celebrates its 30-year anniversary this year, has grossed $1.67 billion at the global box office. The first movie was followed by two sequels before being revived in 2015 with Jurassic World.

In addition to her work on blockbuster movies, Scarlett Johansson has received critical acclaim for her roles in films like Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit where she earned Oscar nominations.
