J.K. Dobbins Signs One-Year Deal with Chargers After Stint with Ravens

Running back JK Dobbins has signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, as confirmed by his agency LAA Sports. This move comes after spending four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. Dobbins will be reuniting with his former offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who now holds the same role with the Chargers.

During his time in Baltimore, Dobbins had a successful career, accumulating 1,347 yards rushing, 12 rushing touchdowns, 27 receptions for 177 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown. However, his 2021 season was cut short due to an Achilles injury and a torn ACL in the final preseason game.

Despite these injuries limiting his playtime to just 22 rushing yards and one touchdown in Week 1 before being placed on injured reserve for the entirety of the season. The Chargers were struggling in rushing yards, yards per carry, rushing touchdowns, and rushing first-down percentage last year and ranked among the worst in the league. With Justin Herbert at quarterback and new head coach Jim Harbaugh leading the team this offseason, adding more options to support Herbert has become a top priority for the team.

Dobbins’ arrival is expected to make a significant impact on the Chargers’ offensive game plan moving forward as he will bring more depth and versatility to their running back position.
