Jurassic World’s Newest Addition: Scarlett Johansson Returns to Franchises in Blockbuster Dinosaur Adventure

Scarlett Johansson in Discussions to Star in Upcoming ‘Jurassic World’ Film

Scarlett Johansson is in talks to star in Universal’s new Jurassic World movie, which is set for release on July 2, 2025. Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, the film is moving quickly in its production. This marks a return to franchises for Johansson, as she previously starred as Black Widow in Marvel Studios movies. Despite her success in the superhero genre, she has also earned critical acclaim with Oscar nominations for Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit.

The new Jurassic World film is part of the 30-year old franchise that began with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park in 1993. The franchise spawned sequels such as The Lost World (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001) before being revived by Jurassic World in 2015. The success of Jurassic World led to sequels like Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Dominion (2022), with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard leading the most recent trilogy of films. Filmmaker Colin Trevorrow oversaw these films, and Scarlett Johansson’s potential involvement adds to the star-studded cast of the franchise.

Jurassic Park remains one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time, with a total box office revenue of over $4 billion across all films and merchandise sales. Its popularity can be attributed to its combination of thrilling adventure, suspenseful plot twists, and scientific exploration into the world of dinosaurs.

With Scarlett Johansson on board as a key player in this new installment, audiences can expect an exciting addition to the already iconic series. Her return to franchises after her successful run with Marvel Studios adds another level of excitement to this already anticipated movie.
