Capturing Change: Citizen Science Workshops for Maine’s ‘Signs of the Seasons’ Initiative

‘Schedule of Citizen Science Trainings for Seasonal Signs’

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Sea Grant are hosting a series of workshops next week for those interested in participating in the Signs of the Seasons citizen science project. This statewide initiative aims to identify and record cyclical and seasonal changes in over 20 indicator species including milkweed, butterflies, and loons that play a crucial role in understanding Maine’s changing climate.

The first training session will take place on April 4 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Stimpson’s Point in Brunswick, followed by another session on April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center in Falmouth. Those who are unable to attend in person can participate in a 3-part webinar series.

The workshops are free of charge, but registration is mandatory. Interested individuals can visit extension.umaine.edu/signs-of-the-seasons/training for more details about the project and to sign up for the workshops.
