Biden and Harris Slam GOP Healthcare Policies on Affordable Care Act Anniversary Visit to North Carolina

Biden aims to highlight differences with Trump on health care in North Carolina

Vice President Harris and President Biden traveled to North Carolina to mark the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act. During their trip, they criticized the Republicans for their attempts to limit access to healthcare and abortion. Biden spoke in Raleigh, a state that his campaign sees as a potential opportunity to win in the upcoming election after losing to Trump in 2020.

The visit coincided with the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act being signed into law. However, Biden used the occasion to criticize Trump and the Republicans for their efforts to repeal the act, also known as ObamaCare, without success. He mentioned a budget proposal from the Republican Study Committee that proposed cuts to entitlement programs and health care coverage.

Biden also criticized Trump’s comments about taking credit for the end of Roe v. Wade and his controversial remarks about punishing women who have abortions. He emphasized the importance of moving forward together, protecting democracy, ensuring health care as a right, and restoring the freedom to choose.

North Carolina is expected to be a critical battleground in the upcoming election, with both presidential and gubernatorial races at stake. Recent polling showed Biden narrowing Trump’s lead in North Carolina from 9 percentage points to 6 percentage points.
